The coast and surrounding beaches are about 5 miles away and can be reached by car in 20 minutes. There is the choice of the many beaches on the nature reserve or the more tourist orientated and private beaches towards San Lorenzo and Lido di Noto. There are some wonderful beaches all around the South East coast for those who are happy to explore further a field. There is useful info and guidance on eating, shopping and places to see and visit in the house.

Travel

A car is essential during your stay. Catania is the nearest airport and about 1 hour by car. Palermo is a 3-hour drive. There is a ferry service that goes from Pozzallo to Malta about 40 mins away. Syracuse is also about 40 mins away by car with regular ferries to mainland Italy.

Distances

Noto is the nearest historic town and a UNESCO world heritage site. It is about 20 minutes by car. Rosolini and Pacchino are both 20–25 minutes by car and Syracuse about 40 minutes. Catania is about an hour, Modica, Ragusa, Scigli and Pollazallo also about an hour. 

Further Details

The closest supermarkets are in Rosolini and Noto. There is a very good small supermarket on the main road before Noto called Sipiu and a good selection of butchers and fishmongers in Noto, Rosolini and Pacchino. There is an amazing food market in Siracuse and a world famous one in Catania where all the locals buy their produce. There is useful info and helpful tips for local shopping in the house.
